Paradise Island [work in progress]

Texts written by Richard Foreman
Conceived and Directed by Jesse Bonnell
Choreography by Milka Djordjevich

Paradise Island is a new performance work drawn from Richard Foreman’s incandescent texts of 1973–1983—an era of psychic rupture, ecstatic language, and theatrical hallucination. Part retrospective séance, part future-tense re-engineering, Paradise Island detonates Foreman’s legacy into flickering mental apparitions and unruly psychic debris.

Compressed into an evening-length encounter, the piece builds a charged threshold where identity slips, doubles, and reforms—inviting audiences into a shimmering zone between who we inherit and who we imagine ourselves to be.

A thirty minute section of the work was performed at the 2019 REDCAT NOW Festival.
