Paradise Island [work in progress]
Texts written by Richard Foreman
Conceived and Directed by Jesse Bonnell
Choreography by Milka Djordjevich
Paradise Island is a new performance work inspired by Richard Foreman’s groundbreaking texts from 1973–83, a period defined by psychic rupture, ecstatic language, and theatrical hallucination. Structured as an evening-length encounter, the work compresses a decade of Foreman’s writing into a single continuum. Moving through the texts in chronological order, the compression exposes what his work rarely foregrounds—domestic life, lived time, and mortality.
A thirty minute section of the work was performed at the 2019 REDCAT NOW Festival.
